Digestive System

The digestive system is complicated because it goes through these places that you might not have heard before.  This explanation will tell you where your food goes.

Why we chew our food. We chew our food so we can absorb more nutrients and energy out of the food that we eat.  We also chew our food because it is really good for your teeth and it is easier to digest.

When you swallow your food it goes through your oesophagus and your muscles contract to push your food to your stomach.  Then it goes to your stomach and it forms to stomach acid.

Then it goes to your intestines but first goes through your small intestines and then your big intestines where it turns into feces.  Your intestines also have more bacteria in them.  The small intestine is located between the large intestines.  When it goes to your intestines it squeezes out the water of the food.

Then it goes out your rectum or also known as the exit.
